Names in the record, in publications, etc.Between 2 November 1698 and 23 May 1700, the name of Jan was written in the record as Jan Brommer.4,5
Baptisms - WitnessJan Brommert and Hendrina Roveen witnessed the baptism of Pieter Vermij on 14 May 1702 Nederduitsche Gereformeerde Kerk, (Cape Town).6

Slave BirthsBefore 30 December 1708, Magdalena van der Caep was born in bondage and was owned by Jan Brommert, although the parents of this child were enslaved, she is described in the baptism as vrij-gegeeven or emancipated, likely an indication her parents had purchased her freedom.8
Slave TransactionsOn 9 June 1695 Francoijs van Ceijlon was sold by Jan Brommert to Theunis Dircksen van Schalckwyck, for Rds. 100.9
On 25 June 1697 David van de Kust Coromandel was sold by Hendrick van Buytenhem to Jan Brommert, for Rds. 70.3
On 27 June 1697 Maria van Bengale was sold by Jan Buys to Jan Brommert, for Rds. 100.10
On 8 May 1698 Betty van Bengale was sold by William Erle to Jan Brommert, for Rds. 30.11
On 17 November 1698 Maria van Bengale was sold by Jan Brommert to Reynier Evertse, for Rds. 80.12
On 19 March 1699 Jacob van Bengale was sold by Coenradus Cock to Jan Brommert, on condition that he could purchase Jacob back if he returned, the price was not recorded.13
Slaves owned by individualsOn 30 December 1708 September van Bengale and Magdalena van Batavia were slaves owned by Jan Brommert.8
