His widow returned to the Cape, where she was remarried (14.5.1724) to the junior merchant Cornelis Engels of Middelburg, with whom she went back to Batavia in the same year. She was later divorced and returned with her son to the Cape, where Jan Hendrik married (2.6.1748) Johanna Bock, d. of Michiel Bock (son of Christian Bock (q.v.)).
