Jan was from the Macassar and was perhaps born there in 1673/74. He was said to be 18 or 19 years old in 1692.¹

On 3 June 1692 Jan van Macassar was sold by Gerhard Drijver to Cornelis Stevens Botma, for Rds. 70.²
