BirthOrigin*Jacques was from Bengal and was perhaps born there in 1673/74. Van Bengale - or from Bengal - was a term loosely applied during the period of VOC dominance to enslaved or formerly enslaved people from any of the countries bordering the Bay of Bengal. He was said to be 18 or 19 years old in 1692.1 
Slave TransactionsOn 21 March 1692 Jacques van Bengale was sold by William Deeron to Guillaume Heems, for Rds. 50.2
