[4] Josephus de grandpreez was die seun van Noel Joseph de grandpreez en Bernardina Mousson de la Grenieurie. Hy kom in 1720 as soldaat na die Kaap en word in 1722 'n assistent. In 1725 word hy hoofklerk op die sekretarie van die Politieke Raad en twee jaar later word hy sekretaris van die Raad van Justisie. Nadat hy in 1730 tot onderkoopman bevorder is, word hy in 1741 sekretaris van die Politieke Raad, met die rang van koopman. Sy wou [sic], Louisa Adriana Slotsboo, was 'n dogter van Kaje Jesse Slotsboo. De grandpreez is in 1761 oorlede en sy wou [sic] die volgende jaar."
