BirthOrigin*Jacob was from and was perhaps born there circa 1659. He was said to be 16 years old in 1675, although his origin was not stipulated at the time. This becomes clear at his manumission in 1690.2

Slave TransactionsOn 22 May 1675 Jacob van Macassar was sold by Lucas Basting to Cornelis Stevens Botma, Rds 45.3,4
Slave EmancipationsOn 16 January 1690 Jacob van Macassar was emancipated by Cornelis Botma, on condition he first faithfully serve Botma for six years before the emancipation came into effect. I have assumed this to be the same individual, without provenance but who apparently was from the East, purchased by Botma in 1675.1
On 25 August 1699 the freedom of Jacob van de Caep was purchased for Rds. 100 by his father Jacob van Macassar from Cornelis Botma who signed the deed of manumission.5
