Occupation* On 28 May 1669 Joan van Couwenburg was an onderkoopman or junior merchant on the Alphen, which had arrived from Amsterdam on 18 May, and departed for Batavia on 2 June 1668.1 
Slave TransactionsOn 28 May 1669 Anna van Bengale was sold by Luitenant Johannes Coon to Joan van Couwenburg, for Rds 80 without any reservasies, i.e. conditions. She would have accompanied her new owner to Batavia on the Alphen which departed the Cape on 2 June 1668.3
