Louwis was from St Jago and perhaps born there circa 1662. I assume this to be Santiago Island, in the Cape Verde group of islands.¹

Slave Transactions

On 1 October 1677 Louwis van St. Jago was sold by Leendert Willemsz to Jan Valckenrijck, for Rds. 55.^2,3,4
