Arent was from Madagascar and perhaps born there circa 1670. I have assumed all the slaves sold by William Deeron in January 1684 were from Madagascar and similarly arbitrarily estimated their dates of birth - based on the purchase price.³

Names in the record, in publications, etc.

21 January 1684, the name of Arent was written in the record as Unnamed and Gender Unspecified Slave van Madagascar.³

Slave Transactions

On 21 January 1684 Arent van Madagascar was sold by William Deeron to Theunis Dirks van Schalkwijk, for Rds. 53.⁴
On 14 November 1691 Arent van Madagascar was sold by Theunis Dircksen van Schalckwyck to Gerrit Janse van Deventer and Michiel Niemand, for f 400. The amount of f 200 was to be paid on 1.1.1693.²
