Hans van Bengale1
M, #16106, b. 1674/75
|BirthOrigin*||Hans was from Bengal and was perhaps born there in 1674/75. Van Bengale - or from Bengal - was a term loosely applied during the period of VOC dominance to enslaved or formerly enslaved people from any of the countries bordering the Bay of Bengal. He was said to be 20 or 21 years old in 1695.1|
|Slave Transactions||On 15 March 1695 Hans van Bengale was sold by Jacob Landsheer to Jan Dircks de Beer, for Rds. 100. Böeseken lists a second identical transaction a little further down the page which I have assumed is simply a repeat of this one.2|
