Baja was from a location I have not yet identified. Like Bugis and Toradja it could be that Buna refers to a particular people in the region. He was perhaps born circa 1669. He was said to be 26 years old in 1695.¹

Slave Transactions

On 24 May 1695 Baja van Buna was sold by Claes Bronckhorst to Theunis Dircksen van Schalckwyck, for Rds. 80.²
