BirthOrigin*Maria was from Bengal and was perhaps born there circa 1679. Van Bengale - or from Bengal - was a term loosely applied during the period of VOC dominance to enslaved or formerly enslaved people from any of the countries bordering the Bay of Bengal. She was said to be 18 years old in 1697.1 
Slave TransactionsOn 27 June 1697 Maria van Bengale was sold by Jan Buys to Jan Brommert, for Rds. 100.2
On 17 November 1698 Maria van Bengale was sold by Jan Brommert to Reynier Evertse, for Rds. 80.3
