BirthOrigin*Francois was from the Coromandel Coast and was perhaps born there in 1671/72. He was said to be 26 or 27 years old in 1698.1 
Slave EmancipationsOn 7 February 1698 Francois van der Kust Coromandel was emancipated by Jacob Joppe de Jonge, on condition that he serve his owner or his owner's son for a further four years. The emancipation would therefor only become effective in July 1702.2
