Birth*Claas van Macassar was born circa 1668 in Macassar, age is estimated.1
 
Vrijswart[in]* Before 25 March 1698, Claas van Macassar became a Free Black, in Dutch Vrijswart, a person formerly enslaved, who having purchased his freedom (or had it purchased for him) was permitted to farm, become a trader, or work for others. Although free blacks were nominally equal to free burgers, in practice this was not the case.1 
Slave TransactionsOn 25 March 1698 Lijsbeth van Macassar was sold by Gerard Vieroot to Claas van Macassar, for Rds. 100.2
