BirthOrigin*Jan was from Haerlem and was perhaps born there circa 1640.1 
Vrijbriewen and Burgher StatusOn 22 June 1661, Jan Jacobsz: Fluytje was granted a vrijbrief or letter of freedom which released him from his contractual obligations to the VOC and accorded him the status of vrijburgher or free burgher. He was recorded as a sailor on the Het Wapen van Holland.2
