Birth*Johanna Petronella Basson was born before 5 January 1716 in de Caep de Goede Hoop.2

BaptismJohanna Petronella Basson was baptized on 5 January 1716 Nederduitsche Gereformeerde Kerk, (Cape Town). The baptism was witnessed by Anna de Coningh and Simon Petrus Bergh.2
Marriage-Putative*It is very likely Johanna Petronella Basson and Willem Plooijer were marrried on 30 September 1742 Nederduitsche Gereformeerde Kerk, Stellenbosch. I am offering this as a putative relationship because Johanna's baptism was witnessed by Sijmon Petrus Berg(h) and his mother Anna de Coning - daughter and grandson of Maaij Ansela van Bengale, the founding mother of the Basson family. She may have been born in the household of Anna de Coning who owned a slave Cupido van Bengale. It was not uncommon for slave born children to later adopt a surname in the family of ownership. My thanks to Mansell Upham for helping me with this theory.1
Names in the record, in publications, etc.5 January 1716, the name of Johanna was written in the record as Johanna Petronella van de Caep.2
