BaptismJohannes Philander was baptized on 8 September 1712 Nederduitsche Gereformeerde Kerk, (Cape Town). The baptism was witnessed by Lijsbet Rootsteen.2 
Slave BirthsBefore 8 September 1712, Johannes Philander was born in bondage and was owned by Jannetje Akerboom de Caep de Goede Hoop, it is possible he was born at sea.1
