Birth*

Sara van de Caep was born circa 1681 in de Caep de Goede Hoop, the date is estimated, I am assuming Johannes is her first child. Child bearing age in the period seems to have been 12-15.¹

On 23 September 1696 Sara van de Caep and Johannes van de Caep van Sara van de Caep were enslaved and owned by the VOC (Vereenigde Oostindische Compagnie) at the Cape.¹
