BirthOrigin*Abraham was said to be from Bengal and may have been born there circa 1666. The date is estimated.1 
Arrival* On 2 April 1682, Abraham van Bengal arrived at the Cape from Ceylon on board the the Coevorden. He was included in a list of Maccassarese royalty — Lijst … de … Macasarschen Princen C.501 — sent on 5 September 1686 from the Cape to the VOC in Batavia. He was recorded as a cattle rustler— was geseagte over dieverij van vee voor 20 jaren in de ketting gebannen en in anno 1681 overgekomen met schip Coevoerden.1
