DR:This record has previously been incorrectly assigned as Ilya vd Merwe, son of Willem Schalks vd Merwe and an unknown mother; and while it says the father of the child was the son-in-law of Willem Schalks vd Merwe, Mansell Upham notes the father was much [more likely his brother-in-law, and that this therefor is most likely the missing baptism of Abraham Cloete. On the other hand it could also be the baptism of Willem Burger - the grandson of Willem Schalk Van der Merwe]. Hereinafter cited as Drakenstein I Baptisms.
