BaptismElsje van de Caep was baptized on 17 June 1669 Nederduitsch Gereformeerde Kerk, (Cape Town), de Caep de Goede Hoop. The baptism was witnessed by Joannes Christiani à Bolten and Adrianus de Vooght. The baptism was performed by Adrianus de Vooght.2
Death*She died on 8 December 1669 The Lodge.3

Crime and relatedOn 1 December 1669 Susanna van Bengale strangled her baby daughter, Elsje van de Caep. She was ill, and unable to feed the crying child because her milk had dried up. None of the other slave women in the Lodge were willing to suckle her child or help in any way. Elsje dies 8 days later.4
Slave BirthsBefore 17 June 1669, Elsje van de Caep was born in bondage and was owned by the Company de Caep de Goede Hoop.1
