Birth*Johann Grobler was born on 10 October 1678 in the district of Tangermünde, Germany. Some genealogists have questioned the birthdate of Jan Grobler, given that there is no known source for the date. However, if he was between 23 and 33 on his arrival at the Cape in 1707, then this date could be correct. It is certainly worth using as a starting point for further research.2,1

Marriage*He married Gertruida Knoetsen, daughter of Cornelis Knoetsen and Dirkje Helm, circa 1716 de Caep de Goede Hoop.3

Hereinafter cited as "Simon du Plooy email to SAGen Fri Oct 25, 2013."
