Baptisms - WitnessMeyndert Barentsz de Merts and Elisabeth Beijers witnessed the baptism of Niklaas Swart on 18 July 1723 Nederduitsch Gereformeerde Kerk, Stellenbosch, de Caep de Goede Hoop.2

    Meyndert Barentsz de Merts, 'n Lutheraan, het in 1710 as matroos na die Kaap gekom in die Theeboom. Hy is uitgeleen aan Nicolaas Gockelius en het ondervinding van boerdery opgedoen en wou 'n plaas koop. Hy vra sy ontslag in 1715/6. Hy het 'n seun Hendrik gehad. Sien Leibbrandt se Precis van Requesten p.348. Hereinafter cited as Palmkronieke I Baptisms.
