Slave Birth - Company OwnedAnna van de Caep was born in bondage before 1 August 1688 and was owned by the VOC (Vereenigde Oostindische Compagnie), Slave Lodge, (Cape Town), de Caep de Goede Hoop, Anna van de Caep.
BaptismAnna van de Caep was baptized on 1 August 1688 Nederduitsch Gereformeerde Kerk, (Cape Town), de Caep de Goede Hoop. The baptism was witnessed by Luitnt' Dominiqu Paque de Schavonnes and Andrijs de Man.1
NotesBetween 1675 and 1714 the Company owned several Cape born women named Anna. Apart from some individuals, it is very difficult to work out who their mothers or who their children were. The things I consider include:
---the age they were considered adult, which seems to have been when they reached puberty although in some instances seems to include prebuscent children
---age gaps between children. The gaps between the birth of children seem predominantly to be between 12 to 36 months, but occasionally less or more
---naming patterns and the way some individuals are identified in the lodge census records in which both mothers and grandmothers are identified

These women include Anna van de Caep, Anna van de Caep, Anna van de Caap, Anna van de Caep and Anna van de Caep.
