BirthOrigin*Lang was from Malabar Coast and was perhaps born there in 1674/75. He was said to be 17 or 18 years old in 1692.1
Slave TransactionsOn 21 June 1692 Lang Onderwe(e)g van Malabar was gifted by Claas Voshol, to Christiaan Freser, for the duration of Freser's life, as an acknowledgement of the friendship between the two settlers. Lang Onderw(e)g's freedom on Freser's death was not stipulated as indicated by Böeseken, but as Hattingh suggests may have been implicit in the gift.2,3

No price mentioned. The slave was to serve Freser as long as his master lived, but would be freed when Freser died.

"Lang Onderwe(e)g from Malabar (17/18), sold by Claas Voshol, skipper on Mydrecht, to Christiaan Freser. No price mentioned. The slave was to serve Freser as long as his master lived, but would be freed when Freser died".

Alhoewel vrystelling by implikasie nie uitgesluit was nie, is dit 'n ongevraagde toevoeging.
