BirthOrigin*Philip was from Batavia and was perhaps born there circa 1674. He was said to be 25 years old in 1699.2 
Slave TransactionsOn 7 May 1699 Philip van Batavia was sold by Adrian van Reede to Jacob Krebs, for Rds. 130. Given the high price paid, it is worth considering that Philip was a skilled shoe-maker.3
