BirthOrigin*Otto was from Vrede and may have been born there circa 1630. His age is estimated.1 
Monsterrollen and Opgaafrollen (Muster and tax rolls)On 20 March 1656 Otto Jansz: was enumerated in the muster roll, as a soldier.1
On 31 May 1657 Otto Jansz: was enumerated in the muster roll, among the free men, or vrijlieden.2
On 15 February 1658 Otto Jansz: and Jacob Cornelisz van Rosendael were enumerated in the muster roll, among the freemen, as Vreden's Company and owners. Enumerated with them was Hendrik Fransz: Knipbergen described as 'in their service.3'
On 1 March 1661 Otto Jansz: was enumerated in the muster roll, he was recorded as from Vreede, soldier.4
On 1 April 1662 Otto Jansz: was enumerated in the muster roll, he was recorded as from Vreede, soldier.5
Vrijbriewen and Burgher StatusOn 14 August 1657, Otto Jansz: was granted a vrijbrief or letter of freedom which released him from his contractual obligations to the VOC and accorded him the status of vrijburgher or free burgher. The vrijbrief was signed by Rijcklof van Goens.6
