On 3 April 1688 Diana van de Caep was gifted by Herman Gresnigh, to Hendrik Snewindt, she was given "in friendship" on condition she would not be sold, and would be granted emancipation when Snewint died. In Changing Hands, Shell notes she was described as Gresnicht's "gebore slavinnetje.13,14"
