Marriage*He married Jeanne de la Batte after 4 May 1685 Amsterdam, The Netherlands. There is a note in the margin of the ondertrouw record dated 4 May granted permission for the couple to wed. It is therefor unlikely they were married on 3 May - more likely the 4th or afterwards, perhaps the 5th which could easily be mistranscribed as the 3rd.3,4,1

Arrival* In 1688, Guillaume Néel and Jeanne de la Batte arrived at the Cape from Amsterdam on board the Schelde (this vessel is speculation on the part of Pieter Coertzen), accompanied by Jeanne Néel and Jean Néel.2
